Built through experience, observation of nature and collective experience, it is shared primarily through orality, cultural practices, crafts, rituals and everyday life. More than a cultural heritage, traditional knowledge constitutes legitimate ways of producing knowledge about the environment, health, agriculture, food, climate, biodiversity and social relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although often associated only with indigenous peoples and Afro-descendant communities, traditional knowledge is also found among riverside dwellers, extractivists communities , artisanal fishers, family farmers, rural population, and various local communities throughout Latin America. In each context, this knowledge reflects the history, culture, and strategies developed to live in balance with territories, contributing to the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of natural resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In education, traditional knowledge can support the construction of more inclusive, contextualized and intercultural curricula. Instead of establishing an opposition between scientific knowledge and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/it\/desa\/traditional-knowledge-%E2%80%93-answer-most-pressing-global-problems\">traditional knowledge<\/a>, researchers argue that both represent complementary ways of understanding reality and can engage in critical and enriching dialogue within the educational process. This perspective broadens learning opportunities&nbsp; by recognizing that different forms of knowledge have social, historical and cultural value, contributing to a more pluralistic education connected to students&#8217; experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This approach aligns with proposals for intercultural education and <a href=\"https:\/\/solvefortomorrowlatam.com\/en\/entry\/metodologias-ativas\/\">active methodologies<\/a>, which value student protagonism and learning based on <a href=\"https:\/\/solvefortomorrowlatam.com\/en\/connected-education\/real-problem-solving\/\">real problems<\/a>. By incorporating the knowledge of local communities into educational activities, schools can promote research into&nbsp; medicinal plants, traditional agricultural systems, water management, food, cultural expressions, indigenous astronomy, artisanal techniques, and other forms of knowledge present in their territories.
