“Solve for Tomorrow Latam” platform Privacy Policy

Solve For Tomorrow Latam (“Platform”) is a platform developed and provided by the Regional Office of Samsung Eletrônica da Amazônia Ltda. for Latin America (“Samsung Latin America Office”) for Samsung’s global Corporate Citizenship Program, Solve for Tomorrow, which has the purpose of enhancing young people’s interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM education) through search solutions to local challenges that affect their lives and communities. Built from the practical experiences of Solve for Tomorrow, the Platform aims to recognize and strengthen the network of professors engaged with the program in Latin America, offer content created by educators to other users, favoring the exchange of knowledge from various countries and contexts, in addition to systematizing Solve for Tomorrow’s memory in the region.

This Privacy Policy is important as it describes how your personal information will be used to provide this Platform.

What information do we collect?

When registering on the Platform, you (“User”) provide the following data:

Mandatory User identification information: full name, email and password.
This is the information necessary to make all the functionalities of the Platform available to the User.

Optional User identification information, such as:
Personal identification: phone number, city, state and country

Data about your professional activity: position, subjects you teach, institution, and age group you work with
Participation in the Solve for Tomorrow program: year of participation and ranking achieved
Profile on Instagram and LinkedIn
Accept or not to receive communications from the program

In addition, when using the platform, you will also provide activity registration information and access logs, such as user activity and login attempts, date and time and IP of origin of accesses, changes in registration/login, changes in content, and plug-in changes, among others.

How do we use your information?

We use the information collected for the following purposes:
Identify and authenticate your user so that you can use the Platform.
Provide all services and functionality of the Platform to you.
Operate, evaluate, and improve the Platform and our programs.
Protect, identify, and prevent fraud and other criminal activities.
Comply with applicable legal requirements, as well as this Privacy Policy.

Samsung processes personal information for the purposes described above. We will collect your consent to process personal data under applicable law, unless we have another legal basis for processing your information without consent, where applicable, such as to comply with the law, regulatory obligations, and legal process, or to perform a contract that you celebrated with us. The legal basis may vary from one country to another, but we will use the legal basis provided by the data protection law and other similar laws in your country.
Samsung’s legal basis for processing personal information includes processing for:
(i) to fulfill our commitments to you, such as to provide you with the Platform – execution of a contract or preliminary procedures (article 7, V of the LGPD).
(ii) promote our commercial interests (for example, managing our relationship with you – a legitimate interest (Article 7, IX of the LGPD).
(iii) comply with the law, regulatory obligations, and legal processes (Article 7, II, VI of the LGPD); and
(iv) With your consent (Article 7, I of the LGPD).

Who do we share your information with?

We will disclose your information both internally and to the entities below, but only for the purposes set out above.
Affiliates: other companies in the Samsung Electronics group.
Service providers: carefully selected companies that provide services to us or on our behalf, such as, for example, the technical and operational service provider responsible for the Platform. These providers are also committed to protecting your information.
Other parties where required by law or as necessary to protect our business: For example, it may be necessary for us to disclose your information by law, legal process, or court order from government authorities. They may also seek your information from us for law enforcement, national security, anti-terrorism, or other public safety-related purposes.
Other Parties in Connection with Corporate Transactions: We may disclose your information to third parties as part of a merger or transfer, acquisition, or sale, or in the event of bankruptcy.
Other Parties with Your Consent or Upon Your Request: In addition to the disclosures described in this Privacy Policy, we may share information about you with third parties when you consent or separately request such sharing.
Submissions and posts that you make within the Platform can be viewed by other users. We do not control and are not responsible for how other users of the Platform may use this information. For example, personal information that you submit in public areas of the Platform may be collected and used by others.

How do we keep your data safe?

We put in place reasonable physical and technical measures to protect the information we collect in connection with the Platform. However, please note that despite taking reasonable steps to protect your information, no website, internet transmission, computer system or wireless connection is completely secure.

Where do we send your data?

For the purposes noted in this Privacy Policy, the data collected from the User may be transferred, stored, or otherwise processed in a location outside of Brazil, including South Korea, the United States of America, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Please note that the data protection and other laws of countries to which your information may be transferred may not be as comprehensive as those in your country. By using the Platform, the User agrees to this transfer, storage, or processing of personal data abroad. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and under this Privacy Policy. What are your rights?

How long do we keep your information?
