UX – User Experience

UX stands for User Experience. It’s the way a person interacts with a product, system or service, and how that interaction affects their perceptions and emotions.

Think about  when you are using an application and you can’t find the functionalities or performing the operations is difficult and laborious, you know? In such cases, the user experience is not satisfactory. A good user experience should be easy, intuitive, accessible and understandable to anyone.

The product, system or service must enable users to carry out tasks quickly and without frustration; because the aim is for people to be able to engage and identify with the solution. For this reason, design is another important factor: the interface must be attractive, balancing aesthetics and functionality.

Working on the user experience and studying it,  involves in-depth research into the target audience and mapping out the user journey, which is the representation of the stages that involve the customer’s relationship with a product or service. It is an interactive process that evolves mainly through feedback and testing.

In STEM project-based learning, innovative solutions must prioritize the needs of the people or communities they want to benefit. Therefore, empathy is the first step to ensuring a positive UX. As a starting point in scientific research, you should investigate, talk to people, observe and immerse yourself in the experience of others on topics and issues that affect them. The target audience should also be included throughout the process of validating the prototype, to ensure that it really responds to the problem diagnosed.
